Why You Need to Address Your Spiritual Health

When you say spiritual health, what does it really mean? In addressing the overall wellness of a person, there are three essential components, comprising of the mind, the body and the soul. These are all the areas that I get my clients to look at in their own lives.

When you really look at it, spiritual health is one of the most important parts in the overall well-being of a person. Aside from the mental and physical aspects of life that we take into account, spiritual wellness is an essential factor for health.

What does Spiritual Health mean?

Understanding Spiritual Health

Spiritual Health pertains to your emotional well-being and wholeness. If you happen to be disconnected spiritually, you may feel imbalanced within your mind and body. There is a deep and intertwined connection between our emotions, our mind and our body. If you are feeling spiritually healthy, your mind will feel more alert and your body will also feel healthy and fit. This is so true when it comes to emotional eating by learning how to connect with your soul you will have the skills needed to dig deep and remove the root cause of the habit.

When I talk about the spiritual part of you, I am referring to the deepest part of you. This is where the innermost part of your system lies, giving you the strength to believe and hope. It is here where your core beliefs are, the qualities and characteristics that make you who you are. When I coach with my clients I love seeing them reconnect with those core beliefs that may have been forgotten or buried under emotional pain that has been carried from their past.

Spirituality means different things to everyone. For many, it refers to religion or to the connection to God. For others, it is the emotions that are inside, or the personal relationships that they have with others. Or connecting with themselves on a deeper level.

How to address your Spiritual Health

Remember that there is a great and deep connection between your mind, body and soul. All of these play an important role when it comes to your health and general well-being.

When you are spiritually healthy, the body and mind follows. Often in those times when you are feeling dissatisfied, unhappy, or experiencing feelings of emptiness, then that is a sign that your spiritual health is suffering. You may not notice the effect of this immediately but within time your mind and your body will start to react. Your body may begin to feel fatigued, often stressed out, and your mind does not function as it should. You may lose your concentration or experience a slump where you just don’t have the motivation to do anything.

When you have a healthy soul you will have an overall sense of well-being and purpose. This is as important as the food and water that you feed your body and the knowledge that you feed your mind. Have you ever noticed someone who just has a sense or an aura of peace and comfort around them?

Once you discover how to nourish your soul you will be filled with passion and purpose for the things that excite you and you will be more motivated to address anything that needs to be looked at within your life. A nourished soul gives you the strength that you need and fills you with hope and inner peace that will surround you.

Never underestimate the importance of a healthy soul, it is the fuel keeps you going even when things seem impossible. This is where your inner strength lies, and if this part is not healthy, you will not have that drive to keep you in motion.

Determination, strength, faith, hope, ambition, purpose – these are just some of the many gifts that our spiritual health offers us.
