I love my smoothies and I love being creative with all the difference things that you can add into them. Now with the colder weather around colds and flu are starting to knock on your body’s door and let’s be honest, no one has time to be sick, so today I am going to share with you my go to smoothie that I give to my family when they are showing signs of getting sick. I have my stash of go to super-foods that I add to my smoothies to help boost immunity. Let me share my secret weapons with you. * I just want to point out that I am not affiliated with any of these companies in anyway. These are just products that I personally use and enjoy.
Matcha Green Tea
Matcha Green Tea is made using the matcha leaves and grinding them into a very fine powder which means that you are consuming the whole leaf and getting all of the benefits. Matcha green tea is packed with antioxidants and also provides vitamin C, selenium, zinc and magnesium.
All these work together to help keep your immune system healthy. I use Blackmores Matcha Green Tea with the added nature boost of B Vitamins.
Maca powder helps with immunity, energy and stamina.
It has a slightly nutty flavour and is delicious added to smoothies, bliss balls and cakes. Maca contains vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin E, zinc, iron and magnesium all these are important for our immunity.
Maca can also be helpful for women in relieving the pain that can come when good old Aunt Flow comes to visit.
I use Nature’s Way Maca powder.
Right here is your immune system power punch. Acai berries have 13x more antioxidants than blueberries and are packed full of Vitamins A, C, E, zinc, potassium, iron and calcium.
By adding just 1 teaspoon to your smoothie you are supercharging your body.
I use Nature’s Way Super Acai and Berries because it not only contains Acai berries but also a blend of Goji, Pomegranate and Blueberries.
I have written about the amazing benefits of chia seeds before and you can check that out HERE
I love adding chia seeds to my smoothies and they really thicken them up and fill me up for longer. They can be added to anything and they are packed full of omega-3, protein and fibre.
I use Bioglan Chia seeds.
Emz Super Smoothie
1 teaspoon Super Acai and Berries
½ teaspoon of Matcha Green Tea
1 teaspoon of Maca Powder
½ cup of rolled oats
1 tablespoon of Chia seeds
½ cup frozen mango
1-2 cups of Almond milk or water
Add all dry ingredients in a power blender and blend until it forms a fine power. Add banana, mango and almond milk or water and blend until smooth.
Relax and enjoy xxx
* If you are after a thicker smoothie add less water. I also blend all the dry ingredients together first especially when I am making it for my kids as sometime chunky smoothie can create issues with kids who are funny with textures.
