I work with mums who are feeling a loss of personal identity and a negative relationship with their bodies. I help them discover the tools needed to create a positive balance within their lives so that they can achieve the body and lifestyle they desire.
How can I help you?
As your coach, I am here to support you as you learn to reconnect with yourself and create positive, healthy changes in your life. Creating a healthy lifestyle is a huge part of this but it doesn’t have to be complicated. Remember that little girl, her goals were uncomplicated and her approach was positive.
I will help you break the cycle of negativity around your body, squash those thoughts of self-doubt and help you see all the amazing qualities that you are able to use to your advantage so you can reclaim your dreams again.
So, who am I?
I am a busy mum of 3 who knows a great deal about losing weight, emotional eating, feeling lost in my own skin and knowing how to turn it all around.
I have a wonderful husband who is very understanding of my need for a clean sink and my very real Kmart addiction. Together we have 3 kids ages 7, 5 & 4 and I am now an expert on all things Avengers, My Little Pony’s & how to make anything out of Paper Mache.
I love to cook and experiment with food, I am a lover of coffee and chocolate and no longer feel guilty when indulging in a decadent dessert (I may even share with my hubby if he is lucky). I love creating quick, easy and healthy meals for my family and I have learnt the fine art of hiding veggies in just about everything.
I love scented candles and have learnt how to make my own and I have a strong connection to butterflies and love what they symbolise.
If you are still reading this and wondering how you will ever get off the weight loss roller coaster then I was to share this with you. I have always had issues when it came to my weight, even when I wasn’t even overweight. As far back as I can remember I have always used food to cover my true emotions. It started as a child and continued well into my adulthood, in fact I was pretty good at hiding my secret life.
I knew all about dieting and restriction too, I was a pro at it. In the lead up to my wedding I remember my husband making me a dinner of mash potatoes and chicken schnitzel and all I could think about was exercising extra hard to burn it off, and I would. I would often get home at 10pm only instead of going to bed I would do a workout dvd. I was so obsessed with being a skinny bride that I wasn’t living my life.
After the birth of our first daughter I had put on a massive 38 kilos, I was so ashamed of the way I looked so I ate my feelings. I wasn’t ready to face the real me yet so I would keep her quiet with food until she would go away. Again, after another crash diet (and a loss of about 30 kilos) I fell pregnant with our son. I promised myself that I would do things differently this time and wouldn’t gain too much weight but sure enough I put on 25kilos. Little did I know at the time but I was never going to break the cycle until I addressed what was causing the binge eating to begin with.
I was on a roll after my second pregnancy and lost 31 kilos in 8 months and then…I was pregnant again with our second daughter and another weight gain of 25 kilos. This time around the motivation wasn’t there, I was exhausted and my husband had started a new job so I never saw him. I ate junk whenever I could, for the sugar high, the emotional high and for the comfort that it gave me. I was embarrassed at what I looked like, I was ashamed of the example I was setting for my kids and to be honest, I really hated myself. I ended up weighing more than when I was pregnant! That was when I knew I had to make some serious changes.
Why I do what I do….
My weight wasn’t the issue here, it was a result of the emotional eating that I was doing. The emotional eating was a result of the feelings that I didn’t want to deal with. Feelings of frustration, loneliness, stress, and not knowing who I was anymore. Being a mother is the best job in the world but in those early days it was hard and I honestly didn’t know if I was doing it right or why I felt so lost.
When I first started to think about my passion it was a little different to what I actually do now, it still followed the same theme in helping women, but it was more focused on pregnancy and nutrition. Once I started my training as a coach, I really learned to love the whole wellness aspect of what I was learning. I began to listen to what my heart was telling me and I began to write, to share my emotional eating story so that I might be able to help others going through the same thing. I began to use my experience to help others.
I just want you to know that I started from the beginning too, I also had to find out what made me jump out of bed everyday. I want you to know that wherever you are in your journey you can achieve whatever your heart desires.
My desire is to see you discover and create your passion. You don’t have to be struggling with emotional eating to work with me, maybe you just want to shift some stubborn kilos, find out how to incorporate simple & healthy swaps into your daily life or perhaps you want to step out of your comfort zone to create your dream life. I have one client who was not looking at creating new career, this beautiful soul is passionate about changing unhealthy habits in her life and through my program, she is completely reprogramming how she now sees her body. Every time I connect with her she is bursting with new found energy and has replaced the feelings of body shame with body confidence.
